| Frantoio (1,600 ft²): The best views in all of Montecastelli are to be had from the windows of the lovely Frantoio apartment. The upper floor of the Villa Montecastello, it is named after the most important olive in our Primo Olio, which gives it its zesty spice. Frantoio is such a place. With three bedrooms and a spacious open kitchen - dining area, Frantoio offers an inspiring space to see and appreciate the beauty of the Tuscan landscape. The Kitchen offers an antique extendable table to seat as many as twelve in front of the large Tuscan fireplace. Excellent cooking facilities are provided to prepare your evening meal at home, or to relax on the couch in front of the fire with a good book from the many (in three languages) that are to be found on the library shelf there. The bedrooms off the main hallway, were the original rooms of the monks, when Montecastelli was a farming monastery in the middle ages. The first bedroom offers twin beds (or doubled as a King size bed), with built in armoire and dresser. The second has a Queen size bed also with armoire and dresser. These two rooms share a spacious travertine bathroom with separate toilet, and the same lovely view as the bedrooms. The Master bedroom, a suite, is larger, with antique Tuscan loveseat and armchairs and a canopy Queen sized bed. A fireplace in the corner of the room offers a cozy glow to offset the chill of the evening mountain air. The private bath adjoining the bedroom has a wonderful claw foot bath tub for soaking on autumn nights after helping with the olive harvest! At the entry to the Frantoio apartment is a private "loggia" overlooking the courtyard and the entrance below to the pathway leading to Frantoio's garden space in the Olive grove, with picnic table and barbecue for cooking "salsicce" out on the grill on those lovely summer evenings in August. back to apartments overview |
